2025 Fil-Am/Asian Games - Volleyball Rules
General
Court/Ball
- Net for Men, Coed, Masters is 2.43 m (7’11 5/8”). Net for Women, Youth is 2.24 m (7’4 1/8”).
- Official ball will be used. Different ball may be used if both teams agree.
Pre-Game
- 5-minute warmup, then match starts immediately.New for 2025
- Coin toss winner picks who will serve. Coin toss loser picks side.
Players
- Players must bring a valid legal picture ID (Drivers License, State ID, Passport, Birth Certificate, etc) for age/nationality verification.
- Players must be on the roster wearing correct numbered jerseys.
- A player may play in multiple teams in different divisons.
- A player cannot play in multiple teams within same divison.
- A player cannot play in both Adult Coed A and Adult Coed B. New for 2025
- A player can only play as one registered sex/gender for the entire event that is on their current legal proof/documentation. New for 2025
- Having additional players is highly recommended for teams with players playing on multiple divisions to avoid game delays and possible forfeits.
Roster/Division
- There must be at least 4 players playing on the court.
- Coed - There must be always a minimum of 2 female players on the court (for 5 or 6 total players).
- Coed - There must be always a minimum of 1 female player on the court (for 4 total players).

Youth Coed
- Girls U18 or below (Born on or after July 1, 2006) New for 2025
- Boys U16 or below (Born on or after July 1, 2008) New for 2025
- Adult Coed
- No age limit
- 2 Subdivisions New for 2025
- Coed A - Competitive (Advanced and Fast-Paced) New for 2025
- Coed B - Intermediate (Family and Fun) New for 2025
- Player may only enter in either A or B subdivision New for 2025
- Subdivisions may merge if there are not enough teams registered. New for 2025

Masters Coed
- Women U30 or above (Born on or before December 31, 1994)
- Men U40 or above (Born on or before December 31, 1984)
Matches
- Each match is a best-of-3 sets. A set is up to 25 points. Third set is up to 15 points.
- In case of scheduling delay, match may be shortened by reducing the number of points to win a set (Ex: Teams start at 4-4 points).
- Win-by-2 and cap at 30 (cap at 20 for third set). Playoffs/Championships have no caps.
- Unlimited substitutions. Liberos allowed but must wear contrasting shirts.
- Two 30-second timeouts per set.
Coed (applies to Adult Coed, Youth Coed, Masters Coed)
- Coed - If ball is played more than one touch, then a female player must contact the ball at least once.
- Coed - If ball is played for only one touch, any player (male or female) can contact the ball.
- Examples:
- Allowed: Girl-Girl-Boy or Girl-Boy or Girl or Boy-Girl or Boy (because it's only 1 touch).
- Not Allowed: Boy-Boy-Boy or Boy-Boy.
- Coed - At least 1 female player must be a front-row player for every rotation.
- Coed - 3 consecutive boys in a rotation are never allowed. New for 2025
- Youth Coed Only - When in front row, U14-U16 male players may NOT jump to attack nor block. Tips, rollshots, pushes (with feet on the ground) are allowed.
Violations/Faults
- Reaching over net is allowed as long as there is no play interference.
- If player touches net during a play near the ball, then it is a fault.
- If ball touches net and net touches player (because of the ball), then it is not a fault.
- If player entire foot crosses the center line and interferes with the play (safety issue), then it is a fault.
- Net, doubles, catches/lifts, line faults and all other faults will be based on ref discretion and USAV rules.
Pool Play, Playoffs, Tie-Breaking Rules
- Pool Play (Saturday) results will be used for Playoffs (Sunday) seeding where matches-won will be counted.
- For Pool Play, if multiple teams are tied by matches-won, then point-differential will be used for tie-breaker.
- For Pool Play, if multiple teams are still tied by point-differential, then coin toss.
- Playoffs may result in ties. No point differential is used.
Sportsmanship
- Players, coaches, spectators with unsportsmanship conduct may get a yellow card, red card, and/or ejection.
Awards
- Medals and Trophies will be given to Division Winners.
- Surprise Reward will be given to 1st Place Winners in Mens, Womens, and Adult Coed A Divisions. New for 2025
